Passive Fire Protection
Passive fire protection is a vital component of any fire safety requirements. It is built into the structure of a building to safeguard people’s lives and limit the financial impact of damage to buildings and their contents.
Passive fire protection system limits the spread of fire and smoke by containing it in a single compartment, protecting escape routes for essential means of escape.
It also protects the building structure thereby ensuring it’s sustainability. Passive Fire Protection is built into the structure to provide stability into walls and floors to separate the building into areas of manageable risk – compartments.
These areas are designed to restrict the growth and spread of fire allowing occupants to escape and offering protection for firefighters. Such protection is provided by the materials such as Pyroshield, Fireshield or Multichar from which the building is constructed, or is added to the building to enhance its fire resistance.
Under PyroShield, FireShield and MultiChar following are the range of products.
Pyroshield W80
PYROSHIELD™ W80 is a single component, water borne, high solids intumescent coating designed to provide fire protection of interior steel structures, concrete masonry surfaces and wood. Designed as Passive Fire Protection, it creates a fire retardant and fire resistant barrier on a wide range of interior building surfaces including gypsum, wood, steel and concrete masonry.
Pyroshield S1504
Pyroshield™ S1504 is a one component, solvent based, high solids intumescent coating tested at accredited laboratories to assess fire protection performance on structural steelwork.
Pyroshield™ S1504 coating is designed to provide up to 2 hours fire protection on 'I' sections beams, columns and hollow sections.
Pyroshield E 179
This is a two component solvent free amine cured epoxy intumescent coating. Specially designed to provide passive fire protection for steel in hydrocarbon pool fires for different types of structures and equipment. Till 5 mm thickness, no additional reinforcing mesh is required. The product is used as a mid coat for complete system in atmospheric environments.
Suitable on approved primers on carbon steel, hot dipped galvanized steel and stainless-steel substrates.
Satisfies ANSI/UL 1709 testing guidelines for fire durations from 60 minutes to 240 minutes
MultiChar E2318
This is a two component solvent free amine cured epoxy intumescent coating. Specially designed to provide passive fire protection for steel in hydrocarbon pool and jet fires for different types of structures and equipment. No additional reinforcing mesh is required. To be used as mid coat as part of a complete system in atmospheric environments. Suitable on approved primers on carbon steel, hot dipped galvanized steel and stainless steel substrates.
Satisfies ANSI/UL 1709 testing guide lines for fire durations from 120 minutes (for jet fire) to 240 minutes (for pool fire).
FireKrete
FireKrete is a spray applied, single package factory controlled premix powder, based on hydraulic binder. FireKrete produces a monolithic coating, able to withstand thermal shocks experienced in a cellulosic fire. FireKrete can protect Concrete structures from explosive spalling.
FireKrete is used for application to steel frames, metal floor or roof decks, and return air plenums. It may be easily removed and reinstated locally when additional fixings are required. Building types that benefit from the use of FireKrete include a wide range of educational, leisure and entertainment centres, commercial or industrial projects. FireKrete may be applied within environments where limited exposure to the elements is likely throughout the building phase of the project, e.g. perimeter beams.
The product is suitable for internal and semi exposed use for fire protection of:
* Concrete structures
* Concrete slabs steel plate collaborating
* Steel structures
* Hollow core slabs.
FireShield E2308
Fireshield E2308 provides exceptional pool fire performance with up to 30% lower installed weight compared to alternative PFP products, allowing for greater flexibility in structural design.
It improves coating efficiency through reduced number of coats and no mesh requirement for up to 60 minutes pool fire duration. Boric acid and borate free.
PYROTEK® E1709
PYROTEK® E1709 is a two components component solvent free amine cured epoxy intumescent coating. Specially designed to provide passive fire protection for steel in hydrocarbon pool fires for different types of structures and equipment. To be used as mid coat as part of a complete system in atmospheric environments. Suitable on approved primers on carbon steel, hot dipped galvanized steel and stainless steel substrates.
Satisfies ANSI/UL 1709 testing guide lines for fire durations from 60 minutes to 240 minutes
Typically used in the oil, gas and energy industries. Suitable for all onshore environments. In line with all epoxy intumescent technologies, the product is suitable for use on pipe work, vessels or equipment operating up to 80 °C.
